The Wagayway Festival of Imus, Cavite kicked off yesterday with a street parade. Wagayway is a Filipino term meaning wave, obviously because it’ll be the National Flag Day on May 28th. It was May 28, 1898 when the Philippine Flag was first waved by the troops of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo in a battle with the Spaniards in Bo. Alapan, Imus, Cavite.

Aside from the magicians, higantes etc., the parade was participated by different government, religious & non-governmental organizations within the Municipality of Imus. The Mutya ng Imus finalists were also there to represent the 3 stars & the rays of the sun (don’t worry Matt, I’ll post the pics later) of the flag.
The festival will end of the 2th of May in time for the celebration of the National Flag Day & the Opening of the Kalayaan Festival on the 29th.
