accepting the defeat

when we joined the league (JUBA’s 3rd conference), mas nasa isip namin na makapag-buo ng team na kami-kami lang, magbabarkada lang. primarily to keep us bonded together, tagal na rin kasi kaming magkakasama dito, although some left the company, constant naman ang communication.

and that’s what we did, although kumuha kami ng player outside our circle, we made sure na ok sila ang would work the way we did and syempre pwede naming maka-tropa, and we are very sucessful in doing that, we’ve acquired the services of tirso (from hoshanco), karlo (from tasnee), alan (from arrazi), niko (from our company) and the rest tropa na, si diego, matt, kabise, jun, deks, ariel, niko (a.k.a. mouse trap), kaka, polilio at ako. kung andito nga lang si the kid, mapapalaban din siya.

kagabi napalaban kami, first game namin versus sfccl tigers, underdog kami, they lead as much as 12, malakas talaga ang team nila. but my boys never gave up, we defended well during the second half until we got the lead, mid-way to the last quarter palitan na ng lamang. 6 seconds before the final buzzer, lamang kami ng tatlo bola ng kalaban, player # 23 of the tigers tried a 3-point shot and missed. to my dismay, tinawagan si tirso a. ng foul while he held his ground and the contact came after the ball has been released and on his way down. i was outraged, being the coach i can’t easily accept such a lousy crucial call. my team mates stopped me from confronting the referee, sarap dukdukan ng gagong un!

the 3 free throws given were sank and the game went to overtime. the call remained lousy and we lost by 4 points. it would be easy for me to accept defeat kung di sana kami nagbigay ng best and if not because of the lousy call.

anyways, outraged ang tropa at walang maka-awat. we lost but we kept our pride. i know we are being watched, mejo takot na rin siguro ang ibang team sa amin.

sa inis ko at ng bida, kumain na lang kami kasama si diego, kaka, polilio at aning. tapos kumain chat na lang kami till 2am para ma-relieve ang pagkainis.

I wish i was there to help you guys, kilala ko bawat galaw ng mga tropa sa laro. anyway, as part of the basketball culture we always have to find somebody to blame, unfortunately it is always the referee. Ah that’s what he’s being paid for.

but it’s not all about winning, it’s how you played the game. If only you are the coach of the team where i belong now, there wouldn’t be no reason for me not to say… basketbll is such an exciting game.

let me here good news on Monday ok!

[...] sa 2 nakaraang liga na sinalihan namin, laging talo kami tuwing first game. last year sa juba 3rd conference, tinalo kami ng sfccl tigers sa aming first game, this year during the 1st da’awah tournament, tinalo naman kami ng sea & shore team. now it’s a different story, the team worked hard para mawala ang jinx.
