Today marks the 109th year of Philippine Independence, I woke up early to witness the flag raising ceremony that was held at the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite. Believe it or not, this is my first time to witness such event, the shrine is less than an hour travel from our house, yet I seldom ignore this kind of celebration.
Vice-President Noli De Castro was the Guest of Honor & Speaker of the said event, he lead the raising of the flag at the balcony of the Aguinaldo Mansion. Present were the elected local officials of the Province of Cavite as headed by the Governor Ayong Maliksi.
A lot of activities were lined up in-line with the celebration of the 3rd Kalayaan Festival which started last May 28 (National Flag Day) to commemorate the first display of the National Flag in Alapan, Imus, Cavite. The Mutya ng Kalayaan was held last June 8 at the Provincial Capitol (which I did not witness), the winning candidates were present today at the parade.
After the parade & flag raising ceremony, a street dancing competion was held which was participated on by 7 high schools with in the province.
