Life Cycle: A Prey’s Ordeal

October 18th, 2007 · 6 Comments

I was watering the garden when I saw a butterfly being mobbed by ants. The poor thing was fighting hard for it’s dear life. I took the poor insect, brushed away every ants in it’s body & place it to a plant.
mobbed

It’s wings had been badly damaged, it would be impossible for this thing to fly again.
damaged

I know that it’s life won’t be long, I read somewhere that a butterfly lives for about a couple of days & I feel that it would be unfair to cut it’s life short.
resting

I went inside when I’m done watering the garden. After a few minutes, I went outside to check the butterflies condition & here’s what I saw.
death

Although my heart was broken when I saw this it made me realize something, no matter how little these ants, they were able to overpower a much bigger insect when they are together.

If these ants can do it, why can’t we? We complain on the problems we are facing but we never speak as one voice to overpower the people causing these problems that we are facing. Actions being done were merely grandstanding, no real action were being conducted. Let me remind you all again, “in union we have strenght.”
