It was on the news for quite a while now, the negotiation for the much anticipated bout between Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Oscar “The Golden Boy” Dela Hoya passed on the normal hurdles prior to its inking.
The biggest hurdle was, of course, how much each of this fighters will bring home. Dela Hoya’s camp initially offered a 70-30 cut, which was too low according to Pacman’s nego team as lead by Bob Arum, they made a counter offer of 60-40. The negotiations was stalled for quite a while until the Golden Boy Production announced a 67-33 pay cut offer, then 2 days ago, the announcement was made, Pacman will face Dela Hoya in the middle of the ring at the MGM Mirage in Las Vegas on December 6, 2008.
As far as I know, nothing (yet) was made public on how much each of them will pocket after this bout.
Some are fearful on this latest move from Manny, Dela Hoya is a more experienced fighter, much heavier & stronger. His record stands at 39 wins, 5 loses with 30 wins by the way of knock-out, Pacquiao however has 47 wins, 3 loses, 2 draws and 35 KO victories under his belt.
My take, this will be a battle of power, and speed, it will also about pride considering how many Mexicans bowed to Manny’s fist. Manny has the speed (I hope he’ll still have it after gaining some weight), Dela Hoya is a stronger fighter. Manny would want to keep on destroying the Mexicans while The Golden Boy would avenge his fellow Mexicans who bowed on Manny’s fist.
So mark your calendar, this will be one hell of a bout.

dela hoya will win in this bout by KO in 3 round.. this fight may be a long shot for pacman. we all know the golden boy has a lot of advantage in this fight. im a pinoy but this is too much for manny. “PERA PERA LANG ANG LABAN DITO”. this fight will be a suiside for manny. sa tingin nyo, pag mag job ba si dela hoya hanggang 12 rd aabot si manny?

yeah it’s a dream come true for boxing fans, but there’s a lot of factors to consider. roach trained dela hoya so pacquaio’s team can come up with a strategy to bring down the pretty boy. oscar is also devicing a scheme to finish the fight early. hopefully DA JAB JAB RYT AND LEFT STRAIGHT of pacman will be effective on dela hoya. if forbes can hit dela hoya why not pacman?

i think the match really sucks. pacquiao is small while dela hoya is large.its so unfair.if you were pacquiao.would you fight the big dela hoya?if you do. your nuts!

Height is not da basic factor for boxing..it doesn’t affect da fyt of manny at all for manny is so briliant fighter..if dela hoya has da ability like Marquez im sure,he cud win for that fyt.a counter puncher is da weakest for paquaio’s ability..still manny will win this fyt,if not by KO,for sure an unanimous decision for him….

…manny is our modern day hero! If he’ll loose this fight, then who cares, nothings gonna change! His Manny Paquiao and always the Pacman of boxing! … I guess the punch ratio in this fight will be 3:1, left, left, right for pacquiao, and dela hoya will answer a “left hook”(oscar’s one and only weapon). I agree, speed will matter. Ofcourse manny can bring with him his speed in this weight division. Its just 147 pounder. Remember when Pacquiao knocked Dias?? Pacquiao was roughly 144 pounds during that time, and we also saw the superb manny at that fight!
…So, needless to say, Manny will win! I dont care if its a K.O. or decision win. But i hope its a K.O. for Manny. Just imagine David knocking down Goliath!! hehe.

Mayweather is not nothing but a boring fighter.. He box and run, like a child being chase by grandmohter with a whip stick…Felix Trinindad and Mayorga are coward fighters…Boring like mayweather…The reason why boxing was invented was to entertain people… watching these fighters fight doens’t entertain even an avid boxing watchers…hahahaha.. i am a big oscar fan.. i grew up with him as my hero.. ironically, i am a filipino.. that’s why i’ll go for manny..
but, i would be deeply saddened if and only if manny destroys oscar.. that would not be so great..
surely, i want manny to win.. but i don’t want oscar to be hurt..
if oscar wins, i’ll just pray manny will not suffer badly..
hehe.. oh silly me.. this is boxing.. someone will get hurt! haha!
