our last stop was the war memorial in capas tarlac, here lies a monument commemorating the heroes involved in the tarlac - bataan death march in april of 1942.
on these wall are names of the valiant filipinos, who continued the struggle against the japanese imperial army even after gen. douglas mac arthur fled the country to australia.
one of the fellow piphol said, “wala ang name ng lolo ko dito, we saw it in bataan.”
mb: kung nasa bataan yung pangalan ng lolo mo, siguradong andito rin yan.
piphol-1: ha? paano nangyari yun? sabi ng lola ko, hero of bataan daw si lolo.
mb: yung mga pangalan na nasa bataan were people involved in the death march.
piphol-2: yeah…
mb: the death march started here, pinagmartsa sila from capas hanggang bataan.
piphol-2: then eventually killed pagdating sa bataan.
mb: yeah
piphol-1: grabe naman… you mean andito rin ang name ni lolo?
mb: kung kasama yung name nya sa bataan, for sure andito rin siya.
piphol-1: ganun ba? thanks sa info
then hurriedly he went to the wall where his granfathers name is written, “andito nga. ipapakita ko ito kay lola.”
the names of the soldiers written on the walls of heroes memorial were unknown, most of them were never mentioned in our history books, they were just mentioned collectively as heroes of the death march. but they deserve honor & respect, building a memorial is just necessary specially when most of us would easily forget our history.

@tin, bago pa lang yan, punta ka baka makita mo ang name ng lolo mo doon
@kneeko, walang filter yan, naka-set ang white balance sa tungsten (incandescent), try mo.
