It has been months since I’ve watch a news program from the Philippines. Our TFC (The Filipino Channel) connection in the camp was disconnected since we were not able to pay the monthly subscriber’s fee. The reason behind, super hirap maningil ng monthly share ng bawat room. Para kang naghahatak ng bayawak sa lungga.
I won’t be surprised, kasi masyadong talamak na ang sugal sa accomodation namin. Worker’s tend to bet it all, bahala na Diyos ng Intsik ika nga then they will suffer another month without any Riyal in the pocket, worst is minsan nakakalimutan na ang pamilya.
After the TFC, I still have news sources back home, that is online news. Daily my friend religiously sends me downloaded version of pinoy newspaper, name it Abante, Abante Tonight, PSN and even Inquirer. At first I was so eager to read the news, para akong batang nangangailangan ng daily dose of milk. Back home I have a daily supply of newspaper to keep me up dated.
These past few days, di ko na halos buksan ang diyaryong pinapadala ni Ian, lalo lang akong naiinis. Walang laman kundi iskandalo, showbiz man o pulitika, I can feel how hard to live now in the Philippines, the idea of food coupon & rationing of fuel makes me sick.
Is this the world that I am about to go back to? Ang Pilipinas na para bang mahirap ng umigpaw bunga ng lumalalang problema ng corruption? We are a great nation, a great nation that our heroes founded. Bansang nagmahal sa kalayaan, bansang sinubukang tumayo ng nag-iisa.
Maraming nagsasabi sa akin na wala na tayong pag-asa. Nalulungkot ako pag naririnig ko ang ganitong komento, the pessimism that is being felt by our kababayan’s especially us working abroad is a sign that na di na tayo makakaahon.
The pin-pointing & the squabbles will not result to a economic recovery. Granstanding lang ito, in our history, wala namang nangyari sa mga congressional investigations, nothing but tons of paper & lost time. Nobody has been formally charge & worst wala namang nakulong. I would admit na maraming tiwaling opisyal sa atin. By my god naman, let us not just try them by publicity, it will not gain anything but name recall.
Whew! Is this the world that awaits me?
